About Our Project

My husband and I worked together to complete our EDGE project. The goal of our project was to hand make surgical dolls to donate to Primary Children’s Hospital. These dolls are beneficial to both the employees and the patients. For doctors and medical staff, they are a way to explain procedures in a way that is easy to understand. For the kids, they will hopefully be a source of comfort and fun while they are in the hospital. Additionally, our project has helped us to learn time management, organization, and compassion.

We made the dolls from simple white, tan, beige and brown fabrics so that the children will have more creative freedom with their dolls. They will be able to color and design them the way that they want to. Along with the dolls, we delivered gowns made with a wide variety of fabrics so that the kids can choose which gown they like the most.

For the hospital staff, they will be able to use markers to show where incisions will be made during surgeries or they can add IV tubes, or bandages to match the doll to the patient.
